Strawberries!

I planted 25 more strawberry plants, so between the ones that came with the place, the 25 I planted last year, and the ones that spread we should have close to 100 strawberry plants this year. There is no comparison in the taste between store bought and those picked ripe in your own yard! I highly recommend squeezing in strawberry plants if you can. If you don't have a yard you can always have a "strawberry pot" or even one of the new hanging pots designed for multiple plants.

Besides the taste there's the satisfaction in providing for yourself and helping the environment. The less distance your food has to travel the better, especially with the cost of fuel what it is. Plus you will know exactly what, if any, chemicals were used in growing your produce.

Strawberries are probably the easiest fruit crop to grow. Other than restraining how far they spread, they are almost maintenance free. Mmmmm, can't you taste them?
